Supun is the Project Director of TRIPS and is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies (ITLS) at the University of Sydney. Drawing on both his industry and academic experience, he conceived the idea of TRIPS to create Australia’s first national database for multi-modal trip and parking survey data. This tool aims to help transportation planners and engineers better understand movement demands across different land uses and contexts.
Supun is a transportation engineer with over 15 years of industry experience across Australia and New Zealand. Before joining ITLS, he was an Associate Director in the Transport Advisory team at Urbis. He has also held senior transportation engineer/planner roles at Stantec and Transport for NSW. Supun is the co-founder of Fernway Engineering, a transportation engineering and planning consultancy.
Supun holds a bachelor’s degree with first-class honours in Civil engineering from the University of Auckland in New Zealand, a master’s degree in transportation engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and a PhD in transportation network modelling from the University of Sydney.
